A flight plan is specified information provided to air traffic service units relative to an intended flight or portion of a flight of an aircraft.

Types of Flight Plans

There are 4 types of flight plan:

Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) flight plan (I)

Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flight plan (V)

IFR changing to VFR flight plan (Y)

VFR changing to IFR flight plan (Z)

When should a Flight Plan be filed?

On IVAO a flight plan must always be filed.
